The Lion and the Aardvark CoverThe first anthology includes a detective noir story titled “Fangs and Formaldehyde” about a vampire named Atlas who will die if he gets too emotional. “Bored to Fu,” a modern-day fable about a mouse, a dragon, and productivity, is featured in the second collection.

You can buy both books, in print or digital, direct from the Stone Skin Press website. If you have questions about other places to purchase them, drop the publisher a line.

I hope you enjoy these stories! They were a lot of fun to write! :-)

New Short Story Release: The Dig at Lovecraft eZine

Lovecraft eZine Issue 19 November’s issue of The Lovecraft eZine features a sordid tale of madness and persistence penned by yours truly. Titled “The Dig,” this is a gender-neutral story about a person and something (or someone) known only as “It.”

You can read and listen to The Dig for free online.

If you have an eReader, there is an Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook version you can download straight to your device. That format is not free, however, and requires payment of the monetary sort.

I do hope you’ll drop by and experience this particular tale, for sometimes. . . Well, it’s not always a good idea to listen to the voices you hear inside your head — is it?

Happy Reading!

Atlas Revealed in New Hero anthology

The cover was just revealed for the New Hero anthology from Stone Skin Press. My vampire detective Atlas makes a stunning debut on the cover art by famed artist Gene Ha.

Atlas is the fifth hero in the second row, right above the “W.” Yes, he is wearing motorcycle gear. Hee. I had so much fun with this particular vampire and the setting I built. Can’t wait to write another one!

Answering These Zombie Questions Three at Maggie Slater’s Blog

Today I’m over at fellow author and The Zombie Feed, Volume 1 contributor Maggie Slater‘s website. I answer three questions about my story entitled “Tomorrow’s Precious Lambs.”

Here’s how Maggie describes my story:

Monica Valentinelli’s contribution to The Zombie Feed Vol. 1 is a visceral, irreverent, stream-of-consciousness narrative from the perspective of troubled Officer Mike Francis, a badge-carrying member of civilized society’s last-stand response to a world gone mad. It’s not the zombies Office Mike worries about–with a little fire, he can manage them–it’s all the other nutcases left behind, the ones who hide behind their fancy gated mansions and pretend like nothing’s changed. With them, you just never know what to expect, and that can be deadly. This is no quiet tale of love and loss: it’s a story that cuts to the quick and reveals the rotten madness even the living try to hide. If you’re brave enough, check out Monica’s story, “Tomorrow’s Precious Lambs” in The Zombie Feed Vol. 1!
