Web Analytics Association has always attempted to standardize the definitions for various metrics and the terms used in the industry and I recently saw announcement by CoreMetrics that are now compliant with WAA (http://www.coremetrics.com/company/2008/pr08_11_06_waa_standard.php). More companies will follow the suit as the industry matures.
